Photochemical etching is an ideal and extremely cost effective process for grids, screens, meshes, filters, separators and other thin perforated metal applications. Applications range from heavy gauge effluent filtration to extremely fine thin-gauge filters and diaphragms for liquids and gases. Other micro-fabrications include encoder wheels and frames. Metal meshes can be photo etched in a wide variety of alloys including stainless steel, nickel, silver, copper, brass, aluminum, hastilloy, phospher bronze and more. Holes can be made in a variety of shapes and sizes in these photo etched parts at no additional cost in tooling.
For some of the smallest etched metals parts we have produced, such as ophthalmic sutures, we can fit literally thousands of parts on a single sheet. We use digital artwork and processes akin to photography or silk screening to produce these intricate parts.
Etching allows us to produce many parts at one time, rather than one at a time as with stamping or laser cutting. Unlike mechanical perforating methods such as punching, stamping or laser cutting, photochemical machining leaves the material free of workhardening and embrittlement, burrs and induced mechanical or thermal stress and deformation.
We can produce parts up to 24″ x 60″. We work with metals as thin as .001 and up to .050 thick. Secondary operations include forming up of flat parts, finishing, plating and painting.
